✓ – Plastics – drink bottles (fizzy drinks, juices etc.), shower gels and shampoo bottles, yoghurt pots, butter/margarine tubs, cleaning product bottles (please rinse out beforehand)
✓ – Cardboard – cereal cartons, egg cartons
✓ – Aluminium – cans, food, aerosol cans

What Can’t Be Recycled

X – Leave clothing and shoes out of your rubbish – you’ll find designated bins for them nearby
X – Plastic bags and bubble wrap can’t be recycled
X – Most food trays can’t be recycled, check the packaging, but when in doubt, place in your normal waste
X – Garden waste – contrary to popular belief, this can’t go in your recycling bin. You can get a separate compost bin for this.
X – Polystyrene – the enemy of the environmentally conscious, try not to use this at all, as it takes thousands of years to break down. If you do use it, then it goes in your regular bin.

Your local authority may offer glass recycling, so check if you can put your glass bottles and jars in.
Toys can be given to charity, or if they are broken, some areas offer designated spots where you can drop them off.
